Mary’s Forget-Me-Nots
Mary’s Forget-Me-Nots is a collaborative family project created by my paternal great-great aunt Mary O'Donnell Kinney (1888-1980) and carried on by various family members of the O’Donnell family in central New York. In her life, Mary had been the O'Donnell family's main historian, and in her later days she composed two written accounts, one in 1964 and the other in 1972. Her writings were based partially on historical fact and partially on the stories, legends, and songs heard round the O'Donnell dinner tables since time out of mind. In 1995, her niece and my grandmother Mary O'Donnell Montague began to painstakingly re-write the passages digitally. The result, known affectionately as Mary's Forget-Me-Nots is now preserved on a site for all the O'Donnells and their friends.
My contributions to project have involved creating various print and shirt designs for our family gatherings, updating the family site on Wix, and researching our historic places of origin and family symbols to produce a family map.
