Atlas Beatifica

Atlas Beatifica is my passion project making maps and prints to explore and understand the natural world through rose colored lenses. I embrace the fanciful and fantastical, and I believe quality cartography can still be imbued with a bit of magic.

The Logo

The blue rose has long symbolized the wishful, the imaginative, and the unattainable. And much like the blue rose, Atlas Bestifica is extraordinarily wonderful and unique. The blue rose combined with vintage lettering are a nod to 16th century cartography and typography.

Type & Color

A bold yet serene cerulean blue was chosen to represent the mysterious and alluring nature of the blue rose. The entire palette is based on the four elements and the traditional colors associated with them – water, fire, earth, and air represented by red, yellow, green, and blue.

Tribute was chosen as the primary type not only because of its foundation in 16th century type, but also because it embodies “caricature, homage, alchemy, and fanciful reinterpretation” - the very essence of the world of Atlas Beatifica.
